Big Walk Walkthrough: Tutorial, Towers & How Progression Works

A spoiler-light Big Walk walkthrough: open the drawbridge, unlock the Map Room through the Red Tower, then work the Green, Yellow, and Blue Towers. How the co-op puzzle loop fits together.

Quick answer

Big Walk opens in stages. Your group solves four tutorial puzzles to lower the starting drawbridge, then works a series of color-coded towers (Red, then Green, Yellow, Blue) by returning collected Heads to each tower's receiver and shaping the released key at nearby key cutters. The Red Tower unlocks the Map Room; later towers open shortcuts like the Chairlift, Tunnel, and Train.

There are no quest markers or maps on screen by default — the world is the puzzle, and talking to each other is how you progress.

The core loop (every tower works like this)

Each major step repeats the same structure:

  1. Solve nearby co-op puzzles as a group.
  2. Collect the physical Head rewards each puzzle hands out.
  3. Return the required number of Heads to the active tower's receiver.
  4. Take the blank key the tower releases and run it through every key cutter in its chain.
  5. Use the shaped key on the next gate or room.

A finished puzzle does not by itself raise a tower's count. You must locate the physical reward, carry it back, and insert it into the receiver. Heads are not color-locked to the nearest tower, so if one nearby puzzle is blocking the group, you can often fetch a different Head instead.

Step 1 — Tutorial area and the drawbridge

The starting zone seals you in until the drawbridge drops. You need four collectibles (often described as gourd- or Head-shaped), which you can tackle in any order:

  • A blue-room symbol-matching puzzle (one player calls out a pattern from inside; the other recreates it).
  • A green structure with switches that must all be held at once.
  • A mechanical arm you reach by stacking players on each other's shoulders.
  • A sealed box you sight and activate with a telescope while a teammate grabs the item.

Carry all four back to the beach station, fill the slots, take the key, and run it through the five key cutters (three near the station, two along the shore). Follow the red arrows so you cut in the right order. Drop the shaped key into the drawbridge and the starting area opens for good. Crossing also earns a flashlight, which removes the night-visibility problem for the rest of the island.

Step 2 — Red Tower and the Map Room

After the bridge, head uphill toward the visible red tower (the Train Station and a blinking red beacon are handy landmarks). The Red Tower needs five Heads. Return them, take the key, shape it through its cutter chain, and use it on the upper red entrance to open the Map Room.

Inside the Map Room you get navigation tools and flags that mark which challenges are already done — useful for planning the rest of the run and for late-game cleanup.

Steps 3–5 — Green, Yellow, and Blue Towers

The same loop continues:

  • Green Tower → its reward activates the Chairlift, a moving seat that carries the group toward the taller mountain.
  • Yellow Tower → opens the underground Tunnel, a direct route toward the Blue side.
  • Blue Tower → activates the Train, a moving carriage for fast travel across the island.

Each tower asks for five Heads and a full cutter chain. The order above is a common, practical route; the colored regions are route anchors, not hard locks, so adjust to what your group finds easiest.

Tips that save a run

  • Pick the host first. Progress is tied to the host's save; returning guests reconnect to that host's session.
  • Set the right world version (2 / 3 / 4+) for the group that can actually attend, not the maximum who might visit once.
  • Keep communication in-game. Proximity voice and tools like walkie-talkies are part of the design; an outside call can skip past puzzles the game wants you to solve together.
  • Don't hoard everything. You carry items in your hands, so smaller groups make more trips. Use backpacks and belts when you find them.

What stays unconfirmed

Exact puzzle solutions, fixed communication ranges, and every tool's full behavior are still being mapped by players. Treat confident third-party walkthroughs as community knowledge, not official statements — House House has not published a full solution guide.
