Can You Play Big Walk Solo? Matchmaking and Two-Player Rules
Big Walk has no full solo mode and no random online matchmaking. Here is what one player can do and why a group of at least two is required.
Big Walk is not a single-player game
You can start the game alone and walk around briefly, but the official FAQ says you will not get far. The adventure, puzzles, and communication systems are designed around cooperative teamwork, so the practical minimum is two players.
There is no random matchmaking
Big Walk does not automatically place strangers together. The developers describe it as a long-form cooperative game intended for the same group over multiple sessions. You need to organize friends or find a group before starting.
What to arrange before buying
- Find at least one reliable partner.
- Agree who will host and keep the save.
- Confirm both players use supported systems.
- Plan to communicate with the in-game voice or text chat.
The host must be present whenever the group continues the same journey. If the host ends the session, the other players are disconnected.
Is two players enough?
Yes. The host can select a dedicated 2-player version of the world, and the official FAQ treats every group size from two through 12 as valid. A two-person run should be a more concentrated co-op experience, not an incomplete substitute for a larger lobby.
