How many people can play Big Walk?

How does Big Walk progression work?
The group solves co-op puzzles to collect Heads, returns them to each tower’s receiver, shapes the released key at key cutters, and opens the next gate. The Red Tower unlocks the Map Room; later towers open the Chairlift, Tunnel, and Train.
