How to Join Friends in Big Walk: Hosting and Join Codes
Learn how Big Walk hosting works, who owns the save, how friends connect, and when to use the platform friends list or a session Join Code.
Pick the host carefully
In Big Walk, the host is the keeper of the save. That person must start first whenever the group wants to continue the same journey. When the host closes the session, every guest is disconnected.
Choose a host who is likely to attend most group sessions. This is more important than choosing the person with the fastest reaction time.
Join through your friends list
When you and the host are connected on the platform where you play, the host’s active session can appear in the friends-game menu. Select it after the host has launched the world.
Join with a code
The host also receives a short, unique Join Code each time a session starts. Share that code privately with the intended group. Guests can use it when a platform friends-list connection is not available or when the party mixes platforms.
Hosting checklist
- The save owner starts Big Walk.
- Select the 2-player, 3-player, or 4+ world version.
- Start the hosted session.
- Share the current Join Code if needed.
- Confirm everyone can hear or read in-game chat.
Join Codes are session-specific, so use the newly generated code rather than assuming an old code will still work.
Progress between sessions
Progress saves automatically, but it remains tied to the host’s journey. Returning guests should reconnect to that host’s session if the group wants to continue from the same point.
